The Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015 was signed into law on December 28th, 2015.

The bill prohibits the manufacture and introduction into interstate commerce of rinse-off cosmetics containing intentionally-added plastic microbeads.

Cosmetic manufacturers have until July 1st, 2017 to comply with the new law.

Microbeads are tiny pieces of plastic found in soaps, toothpastes and body washes, which are polluting bodies of water, and dangerous to sea life.

Here’s more information about why this new law is beneficial to the environment.
